Across NHS England diabetic eye screening programmes are increasingly using OCT. BARS are making available the key presentations from the recent London OCT Training Day as an education and training resource to be used nationwide. NHS England commissioners chose Dr Farhan Zaidi, consultant ophthalmologist and Clinical Lead for NHS South-West London to develop the London OCT Course, working in conjunction with Professor Peter Scanlon, Head of the NHS National Screening Programme who developed an eLearning module with 3-step exam before candidates attended the OCT Training Day in London. This included presentations on OCT / OCT-A image interpretation, live demos on real OCT machines and software updates, finishing with a Training Quiz and Certification.
The event was sponsored by EMIS and TOPCON. The Training Day was a success - 110 delegates attended including screener/graders, managers, consultant ophthalmologists and Clinical Leads, many requesting that the Course be made available as a national training resource owing to the clarity of images and teaching. Uploaded here are the key presentations, all from a distinguished panel of experts in the field of diabetic retinopathy. Please click on the cover to view.
